The third base problem has been solved.
Placido Polanco is coming back to the city of Brotherly Love, but will move over to third base, instead of Second Base, which he played during the duration of his tenure in Philly.
The Phillies announced the three-year, 18 Million Dollar deal earlier today, with an option for 2013. .
Polanco is another power bat added to this Philly lineup. With the addition of Polanco, this lineup is bursting at the seams with power. Polanco, Utley, Howard, Werth, Ibanez. This lineup is packed.
Polanco has only played one game at third since 2005. Looks like my prediction was correct.
Making up for the post I didn’t make, the Phillies also signed catcher Brian Schneider to a two year deal. He will make 1.25 Million in 2010 and 1.5 Million in 2011. He will replace Paul Bako as Ruiz’s backup.
Looks like Amaro won’t have much to go after during the Meetings in Indianapolis. The Phillies have been rumored to be eyeing John Smoltz, so don’t think their offseason doesn’t have more surprises in store.
